Improving the cross-border cooperation of two hospitals in the field of gastroenterology

Improving the cross-border cooperation of two hospitals in the field of gastroenterology

MAIN GOAL: Support for cross-border cooperation between public authorities and people living in the border area.

The Lučenec General Hospital (Všeobecná nemocnica s poliklinikou Lučenec n.o.) (SR) and the Saint Lazarus County Hospital in Salgótarján (Szent Lázár Megyei kórház) (HU) are both situated in the Slovak-Hungarian border region. The distance between the two hospitals is 40 km. The main goal of the project is to improve the prevention and treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract in the target area of the Banská Bystrica Region and the Nógrád County.

Improving the situation in prevention and treatment of diseases of the digestive tract in the target area is based on three pillars:
- improvement of the technological equipment
- improving the professional capacities of doctors
- cooperation and exchange of information and knowledge

By purchasing new technological equipment, we will improve and speed up the diagnostic process and thus reduce the waiting time for patient examination. At the same time, the costs of repairs and maintenance of existing equipment will be reduced.

Cross-border cooperation between hospitals will influence the development of professional capacities, the exchange of experience and the implementation of the latest scientific knowledge into practice in the field of gastroenterology. The implementation of the project will contribute to the development of cross-border healthcare at the regional and local levels, from which the patients will benefit.
