Facilitating access to medical interventions on both sides of the border

Facilitating access to medical interventions on both sides of the border

MAIN GOAL: Support for cross-border cooperation between public authorities and people living in the border area

The project aims to provide access to orthopaedic, radiological and follow-up healthcare services in the cross-border area. The Veľké Kapušany Healthcare Center (Veľké Kapušany n.o.) and the CSPmed Ltd. Elizabeth Hospital of the Local Government of the City of Sátoraljaújhely (Sátoraljaújhelyi Erzsébet Kórház) in cooperation with the University of Miskolc are expanding their technical and human resources to adequately respond to health problems in the target area.

Thanks to the project, the Veľké Kapušany Healthcare Centre will receive a piece of digital X-ray equipment with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and modern beds for patients, that are necessary for orthopaedic diagnosis and subsequent treatment. In Sátoraljaújhely a multifunctional laser device will be purchased that will be used during surgery and the subsequent treatment of scars, skin lesions and ulcers, and possibly other cases.

After the purchase of instruments and equipment, as part of professional training, there will be an exchange of experience in the field of teleradiology, radiology and the application of laser technologies in medicine. This development improves, coordinates and ensures access to patient care in the region of Eastern Hungary and the neighbouring Slovak region, especially concerning the lack of specialized facilities in this region of Slovakia (one-day orthopaedic, arthroscopic and laser therapy). As a long-term result, the time for patients to receive healthcare services will be reduced.
